ILT20 auction scheduled with 200 players in pool
The International League T20’s Season 5 player auction was scheduled for October 1 at the ICC Academy Indoors in Dubai, where six franchises were to compete for a pool of 200 players from 23 countries. The available pre-auction information does not establish the results, player purchases or completed rosters. The auction was set to feature three base-price categories: US$80,000, US$40,000 and US$10,000. Among the high-base-price players were Babar Azam, Phil Salt, Tom Banton, Wanindu Hasaranga, Liam Livingstone, Alzarri Joseph and Faf du Plessis. Sri Lankan players Dasun Shanaka, Avishka Fernando and Kusal Perera were also listed in the pool. Reports identified Murugan Ashwin as the only Indian player entered in the auction. They also reported that 17 Pakistan players had registered, including Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Naseem Shah. These figures describe registrations, not which players were ultimately acquired by a team. The six franchises were due to enter with purses ranging from US$1.3 million to US$1.39 million, including funds remaining from allocations for pre-auction signings. MI Emirates had the largest reported amount, US$1.39 million.
