IAS Officer and Three Others Booked in Bengaluru Pub Case
Cubbon Park police in Bengaluru have registered a case against Andhra Pradesh-cadre IAS officer Vikas Marmat and three others over allegations that they assaulted and abused police personnel during a late-night inspection at a pub. The alleged conduct is described in a police complaint; the supplied accounts do not include a response from the accused or an outcome of the investigation. The FIR names Marmat and Abhay Uday Singh, Nitish and Roshan. It alleges that the group quarrelled with officers, assaulted and threatened them, and obstructed them from performing their duties. Police registered the case on October 10 under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita covering voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, intentional insult, force against a public servant and common intention. According to the complaint by Central Crime Branch inspector Arun Salunke, officers were inspecting bars and restaurants within the Cubbon Park and Ashok Nagar police station areas on the Bengaluru city police commissioner’s directions. The inspection was intended to check customers’ identity documents, including to verify their ages.
