Humanoid Robots Break Sprint World Records at Beijing Games

Humanoid robots have surpassed human world records in sprinting at the second annual World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, marking a significant milestone in the field of robotics. The five-day event, which began on August 22, 2026, features over 2,000 machines from 666 teams competing in 51 different events. The most notable achievement occurred in the 100-meter dash, where the Tiangong Ultra robot, developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, completed the race in 9.39 seconds. This time beats the human world record of 9.58 seconds set by Usain Bolt in 2009. A second robot, the Lightning model from Honor, also broke Bolt's record with a time of 9.47 seconds.
