Haverford Professor Charged in Online Harassment Case
Guangtian Ha, an assistant professor of religion at Haverford College, was arrested and charged in a federal case alleging that he sent about 50 antisemitic threats to a Jewish colleague over several months. The allegations have not been proven in court. An indictment filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania alleges Ha used at least four anonymous accounts to send the messages between October 2025 and May 2026. The messages allegedly included threats and references to the Holocaust and Adolf Hitler. The indictment also accuses Ha of posting identifying information about the colleague and the colleague’s family, including a home address and a child’s name. Ha faces one federal count described in court records and reports as cyberstalking, online harassment or intimidation. The charge carries a maximum potential prison term of five years. The case remains in the criminal process, and the accounts provided no response from Ha or details of a court outcome. Haverford College President Wendy Raymond said Ha was placed on administrative leave and barred from campus while the case proceeds.
