Goth’s Team Complains to Instagram Over AI Images

An Instagram account posing as a Mia Goth fan posted an AI-generated image of the actress in a shirt reading “My Ex Is My Biggest Fan,” prompting Goth’s representative to say her team filed multiple complaints with the platform. The account displayed a blue verification badge and had about or more than one million followers, according to reports published October 13. Goth does not have social-media accounts, her spokesperson Christine Tripicchio said. Tripicchio said the account, identified as miagoth_, continued posting counterfeit AI images of the actress and that Goth’s team complained to Instagram about it. Her statement questioned how a fan account could qualify for a blue check and criticized the circulation of manipulated images using Goth’s likeness. The image spread amid news that Goth and actor Shia LaBeouf were filing for divorce. The picture was presented in some online coverage as though Goth had posted it herself. The account’s profile identified it as a fan account, but reports said its verification badge and large following could lead users to believe it was authentic. By the time of reporting, miagoth_ was no longer visible on Instagram.
