Googlebook Adds Better Together Support for Samsung Phones
Google is rolling out support for Samsung Galaxy phones on its Googlebook laptops, enabling the Better Together features on devices running One UI 9, based on Android 17. The automatic updates are expected over the next few days, according to Google representative Mishaal Rahman, who announced the changes on Reddit. The four supported features are Continue On, Cast My Apps, Quick Access and Notification Sync. They connect phone and laptop functions, including continuing supported activities across devices, casting phone apps, accessing phone files and syncing notifications. The rollout addresses a compatibility gap present when Googlebook launched. Samsung phone owners could not use the Better Together integration, despite Samsung’s role in the Android ecosystem. One report described a user returning a Googlebook after discovering it did not work with their Galaxy phone; that was an individual account, not evidence of broader returns. Google is also updating Google Play Services to simplify first-time setup and fix a bug that could leave the pairing QR code on screen after a phone had connected successfully. Google’s update notes describe fewer setup steps.
