Google to end Pixel Watch Safety Signal on December 12
Google will end Safety Signal support on LTE versions of the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3 on December 12, 2026, removing a service that lets the watches access certain emergency features without a separate active cellular plan. The company announced the cutoff on October 8, saying affected users will receive email and push notifications. A 30-day transition period will begin when the email notice arrives, Google said. The feature will remain available during that period and stop working on the announced date. Safety Signal has provided a connection for emergency functions when an eligible watch was away from a paired phone and did not have its own cellular plan. Google says Emergency SOS and Fall Detection will continue to work through Wi-Fi, a paired phone, or an active cellular line. After the cutoff, users relying on LTE away from Wi-Fi and their phone will need an active cellular line for the watch to use those functions. The change applies to LTE models of the two watch generations, not all Pixel Watches. Safety Signal was designed to let those models use supported safety features without an additional carrier plan.
