Gates McFadden to Write Beverly Crusher Comic for 2027

Published 8 October 2026

IDW Publishing has announced Star Trek Crusher, a limited comic series written by Gates McFadden that will explore Dr. Beverly Crusher’s life between the film Star Trek: Nemesis and the third season of Star Trek: Picard. The publisher plans to release the series in summer 2027. McFadden, who played Crusher on screen, will make her comic-book writing debut with the project. Megan Levens will provide the art, with Charlie Kirchoff handling the colors. IDW has not disclosed the plot. The story is set in a period described by IDW chief executive Davidi Jonas as a 20-year gap in Crusher’s history. The comic’s setting links her last appearance in Star Trek: Nemesis with her return in the final season of Star Trek: Picard, but the precise duration and events the series will cover have not been specified. In the third season of Picard, viewers learned that Crusher and Jean-Luc Picard had a son, Jack, and that she had kept his existence from Picard. The new comic is positioned within the years between the film and the series, but IDW has not confirmed whether it will address Jack’s birth or other particular events in Crusher’s life.
