Fontanini Recalls 2,320 Pounds of Sausage Over Plastic Risk

Fontanini Foods LLC has recalled about 2,320 pounds of frozen pork sausage links that may contain clear, hard plastic, after receiving two customer complaints, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said. The agency warned that some cases may remain in restaurant and other foodservice freezers and urged businesses not to serve the product. The sausage was produced on June 23, 2026, and packaged in 10-pound cardboard cases labeled Fontanini Pork Sausage Links. FSIS identifies the affected cases as Item 393, with a shipping label reading “Packed on 06232026” and establishment number 6944 inside the USDA mark of inspection. FSIS said the product was shipped to distributors in California, Florida, Michigan and Nevada for foodservice use. A separate account attributed to Fontanini’s parent company, Hormel Foods, described distribution more broadly, saying the sausage went to foodservice operators throughout the United States. The available information does not reconcile the difference, and the agency’s planned distribution list could clarify which businesses received the product.
