Fernandes wins PFA award, sets assist record

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season, capping a campaign in which he set a new all-time record for Premier League assists. The award was announced on August 25, 2026. Manchester City striker Khadija Shaw won the women's prize for a second time, while City's Nico O'Reilly took the men's young player honor. Fernandes, 31, was voted the winner by his fellow professionals after a standout season in which he provided 21 assists, surpassing the previous record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
