Fellhauer Sets Bundesliga Record as Bayern Draw 2-2
Augsburg midfielder Robin Fellhauer scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history against Bayern Munich on October 10, as Bayern recovered twice from deficits to draw 2-2. The league reported the goal came after 8.4 seconds, surpassing the previous record of nine seconds. Fellhauer intercepted goalkeeper Manuel Neuer’s attempted clearance shortly after Bayern kicked off and put the ball into an empty net. Bayern had played the ball back to Neuer from the centre circle. Opta also described the strike as the fastest in the German top division since its formation in 1963. The previous record was jointly held by Kevin Volland and Karim Bellarabi, whose goals each took nine seconds. Volland scored for Hoffenheim against Bayern in 2015, while Bellarabi scored for Bayer Leverkusen against Borussia Dortmund in 2014. Bayern equalized after the break through Ismael Saibari, assisted by Harry Kane. Augsburg went ahead again when Rodrigo Ribeiro scored after Neuer parried Calvin Brackelmann’s shot into his path. Kane later set up Nathaniel Brown for Bayern’s second equalizer, 10 minutes from time, securing the draw.
