Falcons’ ground game powers 45-24 win over Saints

Published 6 October 2026

The Atlanta Falcons defeated the New Orleans Saints 45-24 on Monday, October 5, in New Orleans, using a dominant rushing performance to take control of the divisional matchup. Atlanta ran for 205 yards and scored five rushing touchdowns, while the Saints managed 50 rushing yards, according to postgame reports. The loss left New Orleans with a 1-3 record, while Atlanta improved to 2-2, those records reported in postgame coverage. The Falcons built a 24-7 halftime lead and maintained their advantage through the game. Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson Jr. combined for the five rushing touchdowns, the reports said. New Orleans’ offense did not score a touchdown until the final two minutes, according to one account. A separate report said quarterback Tyler Shough completed 30 of 48 passes for 286 yards and a touchdown without an interception. The result came after the Saints had entered the game with a chance to move into first place in the NFC South. Their loss instead continued a difficult start to the season. The Falcons’ ground game placed sustained pressure on New Orleans’ defense, while the Saints were unable to match Atlanta’s production on the ground.
