Saints rally past Ravens 24-17 on disputed sneak

Tyler Shough scored on a fourth-down sneak from the 1-yard line with 1:28 remaining and the New Orleans Saints rallied from a 17-9 deficit to defeat the Baltimore Ravens 24-17 on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium, handing the Ravens their second straight home loss. The touchdown was disputed. Shough appeared to lose possession as he went down under a challenge from Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith, and cornerback Marlon Humphrey recovered the loose ball in the pile. Officials ruled Shough had crossed the goal line before the ball came free, and the call stood after video review. NFL Vice President of Instant Replay Mark Butterworth said the replay crew needed clear and obvious evidence to overturn the on-field ruling. "We exhausted all available angles and could not prove clear and obvious that he did not break the plane of the goal line," Butterworth said. Ravens head coach Jesse Minter called the goal-line sequence difficult to judge while crediting his defensive front. Smith said he believed Baltimore made the stop but acknowledged the decision was out of his control.
