Estonia says Russian services commissioned Milrem arson

Estonia’s Internal Security Service said it concluded that Russian special services commissioned the August 15 arson at a building used by Milrem Robotics in Tallinn, a defense company that supplies unmanned ground vehicles to Ukraine. Three suspects detained in Latvia were transferred to Estonia, where the criminal investigation is continuing. Estonian officials described the fire as a deliberate, preplanned act of sabotage. The service said its assessment was based on information it had gathered, but Estonia has not publicly disclosed the evidence, citing the confidentiality of security-service information. Authorities have not publicly detailed the suspects’ individual roles or said whether charges will be brought. The fire broke out overnight on August 15 at a Milrem Robotics site in Tallinn’s Lasnamäe district. Emergency services brought it under control quickly, and no lives were reported in danger. Two Latvian citizens suspected of involvement were detained in Latvia on August 17, with a third detained the following day. Latvia handed all three over to Estonian authorities on September 17-18, according to Estonian reporting. Russia disputes Estonia’s accusation.
