Epic Delays Marvel-Star Wars Shooter Amid AI Shift
Epic Games has delayed an unannounced shooter featuring Marvel and Star Wars characters and, according to reporting based on anonymous sources, directed its developers to adopt an AI-first production process. The company has not announced a replacement release date. The project is part of Epic’s collaboration with Disney. The reports said the game had been expected in March 2027, but offered no confirmed new timetable. One report also cited an earlier November 2026 target; the sequence and status of the reported targets were not established. According to the anonymous sources, developers were told to use AI tools, including Anthropic’s Claude, to generate code and artwork, with human staff guiding or reviewing the output. An internal message attributed to a game director said there would be no more handwritten code and that artwork should be produced through AI workflows. Epic has not publicly confirmed those project-specific instructions. Epic communications director Jake Jones said the company was embracing AI-accelerated development led by its developers.
