Dimon Says AI Cyber Risk Rose Tenfold After Mythos

Published 7 October 2026

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said cybersecurity risks associated with artificial intelligence increased tenfold after the release of Anthropic’s Mythos model, calling the concern legitimate and saying the bank is working to strengthen its defenses. The tenfold figure is Dimon’s assessment; reports did not provide a baseline, measurement method or time period for it. Dimon made the remarks in an interview on October 6 and, in a separate account, at JPMorgan’s annual Tech Summit in London. He said AI had created vulnerabilities that were not previously known and warned that advanced systems could introduce new cyber threats. He described the risks as real, while saying he was focused on addressing them rather than debating whether AI poses an existential danger. The estimate reflects Dimon’s view, not an independently quantified measure of cybersecurity risk. The accounts do not specify which risks or population he included in the comparison, or the period over which the increase occurred. The reports also give different settings for his comments: most place them in a Bloomberg TV interview, while one says he spoke at the London summit.
