Denmark beat Wales 2-0 in Copenhagen on September 27, leaving Craig Bellamy’s side without a point or a goal after two matches in the UEFA Nations League’s Group A4. Ben Davies was credited with an own goal in the 53rd minute, and Gustav Isaksen scored Denmark’s second in the 66th. The defeat followed Wales’ 1-0 loss to Portugal on September 24. After two opening matches, Wales sat bottom of the group with zero points. Denmark, who had lost to Norway in their opener, earned their first points of the campaign. Denmark controlled much of the first half and came close to taking the lead before the break. Isaksen’s volley was ruled out for offside in the buildup, and Mikkel Damsgaard struck the post soon afterward. Wales had chances of their own late in the half, including a close-range effort from Connor Roberts that goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen saved. Wales threatened again after the restart, but Denmark went ahead when Damsgaard’s free kick reached the goalmouth and the final touch was attributed to Davies. Isaksen doubled the lead 13 minutes later, scoring with a deflected shot after Wales had only partly cleared another delivery from Damsgaard.
