Democratic ad targets Crank over Epstein files
A new Democratic campaign ad featuring Virginia Giuffre’s brother and sister-in-law criticizes Republican Rep. Jeff Crank over his earlier opposition to efforts to release federal investigative files related to Jeffrey Epstein and his failure to meet with them. The ad was released Monday by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Jessica Killin’s campaign, which is challenging Crank in Colorado’s 5th Congressional District. Sky and Amanda Roberts, who are Crank constituents, speak directly to camera in the advertisement. They say they sought a meeting with the congressman to advocate for releasing the files and criticize his actions while lawmakers considered disclosure. The ad presents their account as part of Killin’s campaign against Crank. Its allegations are advocacy claims, not independent findings about Crank’s motives. Crank declined to sign a discharge petition intended to force a House vote on releasing the files. He later voted for the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which authorized disclosure of investigative materials.
