Delhi Tightens Security Ahead of CJP Protest

Published 10 October 2026

Delhi authorities imposed extensive security and transport restrictions on Saturday, October 10, ahead of a planned Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar over a revision of voter lists. Police said permission for the gathering had been denied, while the CJP maintained that it could proceed after notifying police. The available reports do not establish the protest’s eventual scale or outcome. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s latest update restricted entry and exit at 45 stations from 9 p.m. on October 9 until 6 p.m. on October 10. Passengers could generally interchange at affected stations, except New Delhi station. An earlier announced arrangement covered 57 stations; the later update specified 45. Northern Railway cancelled 245 trains scheduled to originate from or terminate at Delhi stations for specified services on October 10. It also rescheduled two trains and shortened the routes of, or starting points for, nine others. Delhi Police ordered mobile internet suspended within a four-kilometre radius of Janpath-Kartavya Path from 10 p.m. October 9 until 10 p.m. October 10.
