Clark Says She Plans to Stay With Fever, Hasn't Decided on Deal
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark said she intends to remain with the team but has not decided whether to sign an extension available under the WNBA’s new EPIC provision, tying her deliberations to Indiana’s plans to build a championship roster. Speaking in her exit interview after the Fever’s first-round playoff loss to the Las Vegas Aces, Clark said she had not discussed an extension with the front office and had given the decision little thought. She emphasized that winning and the team’s roster construction would matter, while stopping short of committing either to sign or reject a deal. “No matter what, I’m going to be here,” Clark said, adding that her main goal is to help the team have an opportunity to win championships. She also said she knows her value but that players sometimes have to make sacrifices, without saying whether she would do so. Clark is eligible to renegotiate the 2027 fourth year of her rookie contract under the Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract provision, known as EPIC. Her 2024 All-WNBA First Team selection qualifies her for the opportunity, according to reports on the provision.
