Chiefs rally past Raiders 30-27 after Kubiak’s halftime prediction
The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 30-27 on Sunday after Raiders coach Klint Kubiak predicted a victory at halftime, when his team led 13-10. Kansas City rallied in the fourth quarter, with running back Kenneth Walker scoring twice in a late sequence that turned a Raiders lead into a 30-19 Chiefs advantage. Las Vegas had moved ahead 19-17 on Matt Gay’s 48-yard field goal with 4 minutes, 53 seconds remaining. The Chiefs responded with a four-play drive, capped by Walker’s 2-yard touchdown run. On the ensuing kickoff, the Raiders fumbled and Kansas City recovered. Walker scored again on the next play, a 22-yard run, putting the Chiefs up by 11. The Raiders continued to press. Kirk Cousins connected with Brock Bowers for a touchdown, and Las Vegas added a two-point conversion to make it 30-27. The Raiders’ late comeback attempt ended with an interception by Kansas City safety Xavier Nwankpa, according to a game account. Walker finished with 177 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Kansas City’s late surge followed a close contest in which the Raiders had held the lead late in the game.
