Chiefs Beat Raiders 30-27, Lose Two Receivers to Injuries

Published 5 October 2026

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Las Vegas Raiders 30-27 on Sunday, improving to 4-0, but left the game with injuries to wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton. The team has not announced diagnoses or recovery timelines for either player, leaving their availability for the next game uncertain. Thornton was injured in the fourth quarter after catching a 55-yard pass that helped set up a Chiefs scoring drive. He was later carted off the field. Coach Andy Reid said after the game that Thornton had an ankle injury and that it did not look good. Reid also said Rice had tweaked his hamstring. Those remarks were relayed by a reporter; the full extent of the injuries has not been established. Rice had left the game earlier, in the first quarter, according to one account. Thornton’s long reception came with Kansas City trailing 19-17, and helped set up the go-ahead score. The Chiefs had taken the lead after a 76-yard run by Kenneth Walker, and a forced fumble helped secure the win. Kansas City scored touchdowns on three of four trips to the red zone, while the Raiders rallied late to make it a three-point game. The victory keeps Kansas City undefeated through four games.
