Caleb Flynn to be sentenced after murder conviction
A Miami County jury convicted Caleb Flynn of aggravated murder and eight other counts in the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn, and he is scheduled to be sentenced Monday afternoon in Ohio. The hearing is set for 3 p.m. Eastern in Miami County. Reports say he could receive life in prison without parole; the sentence has not yet been reported. The jury returned its verdict on September 29, finding Flynn guilty of nine counts, including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence. The case concerned Ashley Flynn’s death at the couple’s home in Tipp City on February 16. She was 37. Caleb Flynn, 40, called 911 that morning and told dispatchers an intruder had shot her, according to trial accounts. He was arrested three days later. Prosecutors argued that Flynn shot his wife while she was in bed and altered the home to make it appear that someone had broken in. They cited physical and digital evidence, the 911 call and messages between Flynn and a woman with whom he was having an affair. Prosecutors also argued that he had reasons to preserve his marriage and employment while continuing the relationship.
