Broadcom commits up to $42 billion for Anthropic infrastructure

Published 1 October 2026

Broadcom has committed to provide up to $42 billion in financing tied to Anthropic’s artificial intelligence infrastructure, according to disclosures in Anthropic’s initial public offering filing. The filing also describes a five-year commitment to lease tensor processing unit (TPU) capacity valued at $125.2 billion, making the financing headline amount roughly one-third of that obligation. The precise structure of Broadcom’s commitment is not fully clear in the available disclosures. Reports characterize it variously as a loan, a credit facility or a backstop for financing, and the filing-based accounts do not reconcile those descriptions. One account describes Broadcom as guaranteeing senior debt in a private-credit arrangement rather than directly advancing the full amount. The reported $42 billion should therefore not be read as confirmation that Broadcom has paid or lent that sum in cash. Anthropic’s filing warns that Broadcom’s combined roles as a supplier and financing partner could create conflicts affecting the company’s access to computing capacity.
