BJP Accuses Congress of Undermining Institutions

Published 13 October 2026

Bharatiya Janata Party leaders accused Congress of undermining constitutional institutions as opposition leaders staged a march in New Delhi on October 12 and announced plans to approach the Supreme Court over alleged electoral irregularities. The BJP’s criticism focused on Congress protests against the Election Commission and the party’s response to electoral defeats; the accusations were statements by BJP leaders, not independently established findings in the reports. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Congress was blaming institutions for its election losses rather than addressing what he described as failures of its leadership. He argued that the Election Commission was not responsible for the defeats and accused Congress of trying to discredit constitutional bodies. Chouhan also characterized the opposition march to the Supreme Court as theatrics and questioned Rahul Gandhi’s attempt to meet the Chief Justice of India. The march by Congress and INDIA bloc leaders came amid protests over the Election Commission. They announced that they planned to submit a writ petition to the Supreme Court concerning alleged electoral irregularities.
