Authorities assess possible new Nancy Guthrie ransom note

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI Guthrie Task Force are assessing the credibility of a possible new ransom note related to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, authorities said Monday. Investigators have not disclosed the note’s contents, when it was sent or who may have received it, and have not confirmed whether it is authentic. The department said investigators were recently made aware of the possible note and social-media comments about it. The FBI task force is involved in reviewing the information. No determination has been announced, and Guthrie’s whereabouts and whether she is alive remain unknown. An online account that has not been corroborated by authorities offered one description of the alleged note. True-crime YouTuber Jonathan Lee Riche claimed on X that a friend of Guthrie received a bitcoin demand asserting that she was alive in Mexico. Authorities have not confirmed that account, the alleged demand or the claim about Guthrie’s location and condition. The possible new note comes nearly eight months after Guthrie disappeared from her home outside Tucson. Authorities said she was taken against her will.
