Auger-Aliassime Names Ljubicic as New Coach

Published 2 October 2026

Felix Auger-Aliassime has appointed Ivan Ljubicic as his new coach after ending his partnership with Frederic Fontang following Wimbledon, the Canadian announced on October 2. The pair have begun working together, according to reporting, as Auger-Aliassime seeks a new direction during a difficult stretch of the season. Auger-Aliassime, ranked No. 5, announced the appointment on Instagram. Ljubicic, a former world No. 3 from Croatia, coached Roger Federer from 2016 until Federer retired in 2022 and previously worked with Canadian Milos Raonic. Federer won three Grand Slam titles during Ljubicic’s time on his coaching team. Ljubicic also had a professional playing career that included 10 titles, according to one account. The appointment follows Auger-Aliassime’s split with Fontang after Wimbledon. Accounts differ on how long they worked together: one says a decade, while another says the partnership began in 2017. Auger-Aliassime won the Montpellier title in 2026 and reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, but his results after the coaching split have included early exits at the US Open and China Open, both against Karen Khachanov.
