India’s Tennis Medal Run Ends at Asian Games
India’s tennis team ended the Asian Games in Nagoya without a medal after Sumit Nagal lost to China’s Wu Yibing in the men’s singles quarterfinals, closing the country’s last remaining route to the podium. Wu won 6-4, 6-4, leaving India without a tennis medal at the Games for the first time since 1986. India had won at least one tennis medal at every Asian Games edition since 1990. The Nagoya result also ended a run of medals that had included recent success in singles and doubles.
