Djokovic Extends Beijing Record to 30 Wins

Published 2 October 2026

Novak Djokovic beat Nuno Borges in straight sets at the China Open on Wednesday, extending his unbeaten record at the Beijing tournament to 30 matches. It was Djokovic’s first appearance there since 2015 and his first win at any event since Wimbledon in July, according to the reports. The 39-year-old Serbian won 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), completing the match in two sets. The victory came after a medical timeout during the second set, when Djokovic was trailing 3-2. One account said a trainer worked on his right shoulder; the available reports do not establish what caused his physical difficulties or how serious they were. Djokovic said he struggled physically to stay fresh during the second set, while noting that strong serving helped him through his service games and that he played a good tiebreak. He held his final two service games of the set and won the tiebreak to close out the match. His Beijing record spans six earlier title-winning appearances, in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, followed by Wednesday’s return.
