The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a weather system in the Atlantic that could develop into the next named storm of the season, Tropical Storm Dolly, a coincidence that has drawn public attention due to the death of country music icon Dolly Parton on Tuesday. Forecasters said conditions were favorable for an area of thunderstorms south of the Cabo Verde Islands to become a tropical depression within the next week, with the potential to strengthen into a named storm. The system, identified as a tropical wave moving westward, had its chances of development increased to 70 percent over the next two to seven days as of Tuesday morning.
