Amazon plans $3 billion India quick-commerce investment

Published 24 September 2026

Amazon is planning to invest $3 billion in its Indian quick-commerce business by 2030, according to two people with direct knowledge of the confidential plan, as it seeks to expand in a market dominated by established rivals. Amazon declined to comment on the proposed investment figures. The sources said the company intends to spend $1 billion by the end of 2027 and a further $2 billion by 2030. The reported commitment and schedule have not been confirmed by Amazon, and the accounts trace to the same two unnamed sources. Amazon said its quick-commerce business generated more than $1 billion in annualised gross sales over the preceding three months, and described it as the fastest-growing ecommerce business in its history in India. That sales figure is the company’s statement, rather than an independently verified measure. The investment would support expansion of Amazon Now, the quick-delivery service available within the main Amazon app. The sources said a key focus would be adding small neighbourhood warehouses, which store goods closer to customers.
