Private employers added 90,000 jobs in September, ADP reported Wednesday, a rebound from a revised 36,000 in August that exceeded economists’ expectations. The estimate points to stronger hiring after a three-month slowdown, though it covers private-sector employment and does not replace the broader payroll measure due from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. September’s total was above the Dow Jones estimate of 68,000 reported in one account and forecasts of about 70,000 cited elsewhere.
