Adidas sues White Fox over four-stripe clothing

Published 12 October 2026

Adidas has sued Australian fashion retailer White Fox Boutique, alleging that clothing with four parallel stripes infringes its three-stripe trademarks and that related advertising could mislead consumers. The Federal Court of Australia has not ruled on the claims, which White Fox’s lawyers have denied. The case was filed in September 2026. Adidas alleges White Fox sold items including sweatpants, hoodies, lounge shorts and socks with the four-stripe design, and continued selling and advertising them after requests to stop. The sportswear company says consumers could believe Adidas made or approved the clothing, or had a commercial connection with White Fox. Adidas also challenges promotional images that it says paired White Fox clothing with genuine Adidas footwear. In one example described in the court filings, an online listing for White Fox socks showed pink Adidas shoes. Adidas alleges that after the proceedings began, one stripe was removed from the shoes in the image and, about a week later, all three stripes were removed. These claims have not been tested in court.
