33 British nationals missing after Nepal flash floods

Published 29 August 2026

At least 33 British nationals remain missing after catastrophic flash floods tore through the Nepal-Tibet border region this week, as the death toll in Nepal has risen to at least 538. The disaster, which swept away roads, bridges, and entire towns, has left thousands of people unaccounted for across the region. Desperate families are now traveling to Nepal to join the search effort, with details emerging about those caught in one of the country's deadliest natural disasters. Among the missing are Spandan Sahu, 18, an A-level student from Surrey, along with his father Santosh, 46, mother Surabhi Manmath Padhy, 44, and 13-year-old sister Syna Kumari Sahu.
