125 Firefighters Battle Mitcham Blaze in South London

A major fire in Mitcham, south London, prompted a large-scale emergency response on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, with around 125 firefighters and 20 fire engines deployed to combat the blaze. The London Fire Brigade received the first of more than 70 emergency calls at 4:27 p.m. after a fire was reported near Carshalton Road.
