Zverev Reaches All Four Slam Semifinals in 2026

Alexander Zverev moved within two wins of a second Grand Slam title of 2026 on Thursday, September 10, defeating Dutch qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp 6-2, 7-5, 6-1 in the US Open quarterfinals. The top seed needed just over two hours and did not drop his serve in a match that carried both immediate and historic significance. The victory made Zverev a semifinalist at all four Grand Slam tournaments in a single season for the first time in his career. He won his first major title at Roland Garros this year, reached the Wimbledon final and made the Australian Open semifinals before arriving in New York. In doing so, the 29-year-old joined an exclusive Open Era group that includes Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Jannik Sinner, Ivan Lendl, Rod Laver and Tony Roche. According to reports, he is also the oldest player in the Open Era to complete the four-semifinal feat. The season has been the strongest of Zverev's career by several measures. He leads the tour with 51 wins, has reached the 50-win mark for the seventh time in a season, and his 23 major victories in 2026 surpass Boris Becker's German record of 1989.
