Zverev faces Khachanov in US Open semifinal
Top-seeded Alexander Zverev will face unseeded Karen Khachanov in the first men's singles semifinal at the 2026 US Open on Friday, September 11. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET on Arthur Ashe Stadium, following the women's doubles final. Zverev, the reigning French Open champion, is aiming to reach his third consecutive Grand Slam final. The German advanced to the semifinals with a straight-sets victory over Botic van de Zandschulp, winning 6-2, 7-5, 6-1 in the quarterfinals. He is the only player to reach the semifinals of all four Grand Slam tournaments this season. Khachanov, ranked No. 50 in the world, has enjoyed an inspired run through the draw. The unseeded Russian defeated third-seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second round and secured his semifinal spot when his quarterfinal opponent, Alexander Blockx, retired due to injury while Khachanov led 6-2, 7-5, 3-2. This marks Khachanov's first Grand Slam semifinal appearance since the 2022 US Open. The two players have met nine times previously, with Zverev holding a 6-3 advantage in their head-to-head record.
