Woman Arrested in Fatal Oakland Shooting of Mackayla Paige

Oakland police said a Richmond woman was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Mackayla Paige, known as Kash, in downtown Oakland. Paige died after officers found her with a gunshot wound in the 200 block of 14th Street early October 11. Police have not publicly identified the arrested woman or said what led to the shooting. Officers responded shortly after 1:30 a.m., according to police. They found Paige wounded, attempted lifesaving measures and took her to a hospital, where she died. Police said the victim was also from Richmond. The Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section is investigating. Paige’s relatives identified her as Mackayla Paige, and Now That’s TV confirmed her death in a tribute. She appeared on several programs associated with the network, including YNR, Roommhates and Now That’s Riot. Other reports listed appearances on Real West Coast Baddies, Young Reckless and RoomH8z. Her cousin, Nicky Clayton, told KTVU that Paige had ambitions beyond television, including starting a business and working in makeup. Clayton said Paige had modeled for companies and hoped to become a reality star.
