Erie Shooting Killed Eight, Including Seven of Suspect’s Relatives

Published 13 October 2026

Authorities identified Matthew Stone Sr., 45, as the suspected gunman in a shooting at a home in Erie, Pennsylvania, that killed eight people before he died at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police. The victims included seven of his relatives, among them two young children, and two women who were shot outside the house. Authorities have not established a motive. Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook identified Stone and six adult victims on October 12: Michelle Stone, 44; Angelina Stone, 24; Jonathan Stone, 19; Matthew Stone, 21; Lora Roberts, 37; and Twila Tanner, 51. Cook said a 5-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl were also killed, but their names were withheld under state law. At a memorial, Julius Windham identified the girl as his daughter, Amarianna, and said Angelina Stone was the children’s mother. Cook said Angelina Stone was pregnant and due to give birth on October 12. One report included the unborn child in its accounting of those killed, while others described eight victims plus the suspected gunman.
