William and Ross Kemp promote emergency preparedness in Ilminster

Published 6 October 2026

Prince William and actor Ross Kemp joined volunteers and young people in Ilminster, Somerset, for an emergency-preparedness event promoting Ready Together, a National Emergencies Trust initiative intended to help communities plan for crises including flooding and wildfires. The visit combined practical exercises and discussions about local readiness with a lighter exchange about Kemp’s appearance on Celebrity Traitors. William is patron of the National Emergencies Trust, while Kemp is an ambassador. During the event, they took part in emergency simulations and met young people and local volunteers. William also spoke with teenagers about steps they could take to protect themselves and their community during an emergency. The reports describe the event as part of the initiative’s launch, but do not detail what specific plans, resources or timetable will follow for Ilminster residents. The pair’s television banter drew attention during the visit. William joked that he would try to get the outcome of Celebrity Traitors from Kemp and tell others, calling the actor a spoiler. Kemp did not reveal the result.
