Vigil for A66 crash victim turns violent with cars set on fire

A violent vigil for one of the victims of a fatal head-on collision on the A66 has led to cars being set on fire and prompted a major police response across the Teesside area. The incident occurred in a field in Haswell, County Durham, on the night of August 27, as crowds gathered to remember Michael Robert Cahill, 23, who died in the crash the previous weekend. According to reports, attendees at the memorial event skidded vehicles around the field, crashed through hedges, and set five cars ablaze. Blue flares were also lit, and balloons spelling out Cahill's name were released.
