United Russia leads with 58% in Russia's parliamentary election

Preliminary results from Russia's parliamentary election show the ruling United Russia party securing a commanding lead, with the central election commission reporting it captured 57.54% of the vote. The election, which concluded on Sunday, September 20, 2026, was the first State Duma vote since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and was framed by President Vladimir Putin as a test of public support for the war. The Communist Party followed with 14.2%, the ultranationalist LDPR with 10.7%, and New People with 9.7%. A Just Russia received 6.6%, putting all four parties on track to return to the 450-seat Duma. Official turnout was reported at more than 56%, higher than in the 2021 election. More than 110 million Russians were eligible to vote in the three-day contest. The election took place in a tightly controlled political environment. The anti-war Yabloko party was barred from the federal party-list ballot by the Supreme Court, though some of its candidates ran in single-seat districts. All ten parties allowed on the ballot are considered loyal to the Kremlin and support the war in Ukraine.
