Uniswap founder says SBF bought domain for seven figures

Uniswap founder Hayden Adams has revealed that Sam Bankman-Fried, the convicted founder of the collapsed FTX exchange, once purchased the domain Uniswap.com for a seven-figure sum before Uniswap Labs reclaimed it through legal arbitration. Adams shared the account in a post on September 20, 2026, stating that the original owners of the domain had demanded a price in the millions, which Uniswap refused to pay. He alleged that Bankman-Fried then bought the domain and redirected it to SushiSwap, a rival decentralized exchange that was a fork of Uniswap's code. Adams described the move as an attempt to "flex" or "mess with" Uniswap. The redirect, which occurred in 2021, provided the legal basis for Uniswap Labs to challenge the domain's ownership. The company filed a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in May 2021, arguing that the use of its trademarked name to send users to a competitor was illegitimate. On September 3, 2021, a WIPO arbitration panel ruled in favor of Uniswap Labs.
