UNI Retreats After Rally as CME Futures Plan Looms

Published 24 September 2026

Uniswap’s UNI token climbed sharply in September before retreating from a multimonth high, as traders weighed a planned futures listing by CME Group against rising token balances on centralized exchanges and mixed activity by large wallets. UNI rose from about $6 around September 17 to nearly $11 on September 23. It then fell roughly 11% over 24 hours, with reports on September 24 placing it between $9.25 and $9.34. The pullback left the token well above its level a week earlier, but below its recent peak. CME Group announced on September 22 that UNI futures are scheduled to begin trading on October 19, subject to regulatory review. The planned contracts would give traders a way to take positions on UNI through futures rather than holding the token directly. One report said standard contracts would represent 10,000 UNI and micro contracts 1,000 UNI. The announcement was cited in reports as a catalyst for the rally, but the available information does not establish that it alone drove the price increase. UNI had also risen in the days before the announcement.
