Ukraine Calls India Proposal Broadest of Four Truce Plans
Ukraine is prepared to consider a ceasefire covering energy infrastructure and the Black Sea, and its foreign minister has described India’s proposal as the broadest of four initiatives Kyiv has received. Andrii Sybiha said the proposals came from India, Türkiye, Egypt and the United States, but the terms of India’s plan have not been made public in the supplied accounts. Sybiha said Ukraine would consider an energy and Black Sea truce only if an energy ceasefire also stopped attacks on energy and port infrastructure. He said Kyiv was also considering an unconditional ceasefire along the frontline. His comments describe Ukraine’s position, not an agreement: the reports do not establish that Russia or Ukraine has accepted India’s proposal or that a truce has been arranged. India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said Sunday that New Delhi had become more involved in recent months, holding conversations with both Russia and Ukraine. He said the discussions include safety of shipping in the Black Sea, grain and energy exports, and possible nonattacks. Jaishankar described the conversations as ongoing and did not say they had produced an agreement.
