Zelensky says U.S. proposed Ukraine-Russia talks in UAE

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the United States has proposed technical-level talks involving Ukraine, the United States and Russia, with the United Arab Emirates as a possible venue. Kyiv is waiting for Washington to provide a date, and no meeting has been confirmed, according to Zelensky’s account. Zelensky described the UAE proposal to journalists on September 25, a day after outlining another possible setting: the G20 summit in Miami in December. He said Ukraine would support a trilateral meeting at the summit if the parties agreed on that format. The two possibilities have been discussed separately, and there is no indication they are mutually exclusive. The G20 summit is scheduled for December 14-15. The United States has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend, but Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia would handle the invitation through diplomatic channels. No decision on Putin’s attendance had been announced in the reports, and there was no confirmation that the three countries had agreed to meet at the summit. The UAE proposal is also at an early stage.
