UFC champ Strickland survives helmetless offroad rollover

UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland said he was a passenger in an offroad vehicle that rolled about six times at roughly 60 mph while he was not wearing a helmet, according to a series of posts he shared on Instagram. Strickland, 35, described the crash in video footage and written updates, saying a friend identified as Chris Cornell was driving. "I let my buddy drive, he rolled us going like 60 mph, we rolled like six times," Strickland said in one post. "I didn't have a helmet on, I'm an idiot." In the footage, Strickland showed grazes to his head and back and said his head struck the ground during the rollover. He later posted an update saying he was "a little concussed but good" and wanted to spar the following day. Strickland said he did not provide a formal medical diagnosis and did not confirm whether he was hospitalized. Strickland said Cornell lost consciousness and was taken to hospital. He later posted a photograph of Cornell giving a thumbs up from a hospital bed alongside an X-ray image of a broken bone. Strickland said he believed Cornell would recover. The crash location and the type of vehicle involved were not disclosed.
