Ubisoft Director Says He Consulted on Beyond Good and Evil 2
Rik Godwin, a narrative director at Ubisoft Bordeaux, said he has spent the past few months working on Beyond Good and Evil 2 in a support-consultant role, indicating that work on the long-delayed game is continuing. His social media post offered no details about the project’s development progress or a release date. Godwin said he had checked that he was permitted to disclose his involvement. The role is a limited update, however, and does not establish the game’s overall status, scope or likelihood of release. Ubisoft has not announced a launch window. The sequel was first announced in 2008, and a new version was presented at E3 in 2017. Ubisoft has shared little substantive information about the game in recent years. The long gap between updates has fueled uncertainty about its future, but Godwin’s account adds evidence that a Ubisoft staff member has recently contributed to the project. Ubisoft creative director Fawzi Mesmar said in January 2026 that the game and his team were unaffected by recent company changes. That statement, reported at the time, followed concerns about restructuring and cancellations at the company.
