Inflation in the United States accelerated in May, reaching its highest annual rate in three years as surging energy prices driven by geopolitical conflict squeezed household budgets. The Consumer Price Index rose 4.2% from a year ago, up from 3.8% in April, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
