Two Bengaluru Electrical Explosions Injure Five
Two electrical-equipment explosions in Bengaluru on October 6 and 7 injured five people, with four hurt when a roadside transformer exploded in Benniganahalli and one injured in a separate Ring Main Unit (RMU) blast near Bagalur Cross. Investigators have not established the exact cause of either incident. The Benniganahalli transformer exploded between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. on October 6 near a warehouse, within the limits of Ramamurthy Nagar police station. Police identified the injured as Narayan, Azeem Pasha, Chethan and Lakshmi. A nearby two-wheeler was damaged, according to police accounts. The four were taken to hospital for treatment. Reports differed on the severity of their injuries: one said Pasha had severe injuries, while another described Narayan as critical. Other accounts said some or all of the injured were out of danger. No consistent later medical update was available in the reports. Police are investigating the Benniganahalli explosion. They preliminarily suspected a heavy power load, but said the cause remained to be established. Residents alleged that the transformer had developed a technical problem the previous day and that officials had been notified.
